State of Compliance with Requirements

This website is almost fully compliant with the accessibility regulations that I have voluntarily implemented.

Non-Compliance with Accessibility Regulations

The content listed below is not 100% compliant with the relevant legal accessibility regulations:

Page: https://www.dr-notemann.de/anfahrt-fachaerztin-allgemeinmedizin-akupunktur-privatpraxis-krefeld-bockum.html

  • Image elements do not have [alt] attributes
  • Links do not have easily recognizable names
  • Touch target areas are of insufficient size or have insufficient spacing.
  • Page result: 89% accessible
  • Source of the complaints: "Interactive Map by Dr. DSGVO"

Test Result Score 99.48%

The existing complaints cannot be resolved by me as they are caused by the "Interactive Map by Dr. DSGVO," over which I have no control. I am not aware of a 100% accessible, privacy-friendly alternative to this interactive map for websites.

Evaluation Method

Two online tools were used:

PageSpeed Insights

PageSpeed Insights (PSI) by Google is primarily a tool for analyzing website performance, but it also integrates an accessibility evaluation through the Lighthouse report. In terms of accessibility, PSI tests how accessible a website is for users with disabilities, based on the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG).

PageSpeed Insights uses Lighthouse to identify accessibility issues. Here is an overview of the main points tested in the area of accessibility:

1. ARIA Implementation
  • Correct ARIA Roles and Attributes: Checks whether ARIA roles (e.g., role="combobox") are used correctly and required attributes are present (e.g., aria-controls, aria-expanded).
  • ARIA Errors: Detects issues such as missing subordinate roles (e.g., the error message "Some parent ARIA roles must contain specific child roles…") or conflicting ARIA states (e.g., aria-hidden="true" on visible elements).
2. Semantic Structure
  • HTML Semantics: Verifies whether semantic HTML elements like header, nav, main, and footer are used to clarify the page structure.
  • Headings: Checks whether headings (h1 to h6) are used in a logical order (e.g., no skipping from h2 to h4).
  • Lists: Ensures that lists (ul, ol) are used correctly.
3. Image and Media Accessibility
  • Alt Texts: Checks whether all img elements have an alt attribute.
  • Decorative Images: Ensures that decorative images have an empty alt attribute (alt="") to be ignored by screen readers.
  • Video and Audio: Checks whether videos have captions and audio files have transcripts.
4. Color Contrast
  • Contrast Ratios: Measures whether the color contrast between text and background meets WCAG requirements (at least 4.5:1 for normal text, 3:1 for large text).
  • Color Scheme Consistency: Ensures that the color scheme is accessible to users with visual impairments.
5. Keyboard Accessibility
  • Focusability: Checks whether all interactive elements (e.g., links, buttons) are accessible via the keyboard (e.g., tabindex="0").
  • Focus Indicators: Ensures that focused elements have visible focus indicators (e.g., a visible outline when pressing the Tab key).
  • Keyboard Navigation: Verifies whether elements like dropdowns can be operated with keyboard commands such as arrow keys, Enter, or Escape.
6. Text and Language Accessibility
  • Language Attributes: Checks whether the html element has a lang attribute (e.g., html lang="de"), which is important for screen readers.
  • Readable Texts: Ensures that texts have sufficient font size and line height to be readable.
7. Interactive Elements
  • Accessible Names: Checks whether interactive elements (e.g., buttons, links) have accessible names, either through visible text, aria-label, or title.
  • Roles and States: Verifies whether dynamic elements (e.g., aria-expanded) are correctly updated when the state changes.
8. Forms and Inputs
  • Labels and Descriptions: Checks whether form elements (e.g., input) are linked to a label or use aria-label.
  • Error Messages: Ensures that errors in forms are accessible.
9. Tables and Lists
  • Table Structure: Checks whether tables (table) have correct headers (th) and descriptions.
  • Lists: Ensures that lists like listbox are correctly structured.
10. Performance and Accessibility
  • Load Time: Indirectly relevant for accessibility, as slow load times can disadvantage users with limited devices.
11. Manual Checks
  • Zoom: Checks whether content remains accessible at up to 200% zoom.
  • Touch Targets: Ensures that touch targets are large enough (at least 48x48px per WCAG).

Nu Html Checker

The Nu Html Checker is a powerful tool for checking HTML, CSS, and SVG compliance with web standards. Based on W3C and WHATWG specifications as well as various sources. In terms of accessibility:

  • Identifies potential accessibility issues, such as missing alt attributes on img tags or insufficient ARIA attributes.
  • Checks for WCAG 2.1 compliance (e.g., through specific bookmarklets) to ensure content is accessible to screen readers.
  • Verifies the correct use of ARIA (e.g., role="combobox" must be properly linked to a listbox with aria-controls).
  • Detects missing or incorrect ARIA attributes that impair accessibility.

Further Measures to Improve the Accessibility of My Website

I am continuously striving to improve the accessibility options of my website. Currently, I am working on the following improvements:

-

Accessibility Evaluation Report

  • pagespeed.web Score: 99.48%
  • Average of a total of 21 pages
  • Result: 20 pages = 100% / 1 page = 89%
  • Nu Html Checker Result for all pages: "Document checking completed. No errors or warnings to show."
